Ex-Mil Takes Part in the London CEO Sleepout Fundraising Event

Every year, CEO Sleepout organises multiple charity events across the UK to raise funds and fight against homelessness. Ex-Mil Recruitment has taken part in the past and this year was no exception, with our Managing Director spending the night out on November 20th 2023.

The CEO Sleepout is an opportunity for business leaders to raise money for grassroots homeless charities. These are the charities that really make a genuine difference to those suffering from homelessness, including veterans. 

To put it simply, you get together and spend a night outside, with just a sleeping bag and mat. No tent, no luxury camping gear, just a sleeping bag. 

This year, our Managing Director, Ben Shorter, attended the CEO Sleepout London event, which took place at Lords Cricket Ground. This event alone raised over £220,000, with the numbers still rising as donations continue! The impact of a charity event like this makes a huge difference for people who face hardship daily trying to have their basic needs met. 

The money Ex-Mil members raised specifically goes to a veteran charity called ‘Walking With The Wounded’. This charity works with veterans who find themselves in tough situations, including mental health issues and homelessness. They provide support ranging from employment skills to career training, as well as liaising with the National Health Service for the delivery of Op COURAGE, a service that helps veterans get the specialist care they need.

​​By participating in a CEO Sleepout event, we gained insight into the big issues surrounding homelessness and what – as business leaders – we have the power to change.

This positive social impact brings value to our business. This is the work that strengthens communities and society as a whole, and we feel very grateful to be a part of it.
