The entire world is dealing with the aftermath of Covid, with inflation and interest rates rising. It seems inevitable that the UK will see some sort of recession over the coming months.

In October 2022, even though the UK was going through political turmoil, the job market was still robust, with vacancies outnumbering the amount of candidates. With the economy slowing and the country in the grip of a cost-of-living crisis, inevitably, companies will tighten their belts and look to keep head count to the minimum. A common saying in the military is that ‘No battle plan ever survives 10 seconds past first contact with an enemy’ (Moltke). Part of their make-up is to be flexible and adapt to the situation no matter how that changes.
